Triton Showers’ carbon reduction efforts recognised with BMA Award win

Triton Showers has been recognised for its efforts in reducing its carbon emissions by winning the Bathroom Manufacturers Association’s (BMA) Carbon Reduction award, in addition to being highly commended in the Open Category.

The Carbon Reduction accolade was awarded in acknowledgement of Triton’s reduction of its Scope 1 and 2 footprint by 4.96 per cent in the latest financial year (22-23), along with a 7.77 per cent reduction in its Scope 3 footprint – efforts that form part of the company’s ongoing strategy to meet an ambitious target of achieving Net Zero by 2035.

The achievement recognises the business’ significant programme of detailed measurement and analysis. In 2023, Triton launched a new company-wide ‘Sustainability Six’ initiative, consisting of six cross-functional projects matched against the largest contributing categories to the business’ baseline carbon footprint – driven by an empowered team of more than forty employees.

David Tutton, Managing Director at Triton, said: “We’re delighted to once again be recognised for our substantial team effort in reinforcing our commitment to driving sustainability throughout the business. In accordance with our certification as ‘carbon neutral’ for the second consecutive year, we have implemented new – and cultivated existing – activities to meet our glide path to our long-term mission of becoming Net Zero by 2035. To be commended by the BMA for our role in reducing carbon emissions reflects the significant hard work we have undertaken – something that will continue over the coming years.”

Triton has recorded a footprint reduction of nearly 38,000 tCO2e, the equivalent of removing 22,000 cars from UK roads. Several initiatives aimed at providing affordable and clean energy to customers include the continued procurement of 100 per cent Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) certified renewable electricity for Triton’s headquarters and the installation of a new HVAC system aimed at reducing Scope 1 gas emissions.

Moreover, Triton was highly commended in the BMA’s Sustainability Awards Open Category for its role in empowering consumers to make changes that assist in reducing their own carbon footprint. Building on its ‘Every Drop Makes a Difference’ campaign, the organisation recently launched its new electric shower, ENVi®, designed to promote more sustainable showering habits by allowing users to customise their showering experience.

David concluded: “Inspired by the UN SDG’s, our devotion to increasing sustainability throughout the business has played a vital role in encouraging customers to join us in ensuring that our aim for Net Zero isn’t just an ambition, but a reality. We’re enormously grateful for the continued support of the BMA, and plan to continue to take unprecedented steps in our ongoing sustainable journey.”
