A message from our CEO: My new mandate for purpose and evolution

Hello everyone! I’m Daphne Doody-Green, and I am absolutely delighted to be leading the Bathroom Association as your new CEO.

After nearly 24 years at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), where I led member strategies and engagement across the UK and internationally, my move to the Association may seem like a surprising change.

For some, this shift has raised eyebrows. “Why bathrooms?” “Why now?” My answer is rooted in the same principles that have guided my entire career: purpose, people, and the opportunity to lead with strong values. I saw a sector undergoing significant change and a powerful association with a clear and compelling mission: A world where bathrooms are better for people and planet.

The Core Remains: Community and Connection

My time at the CIPD taught me that the strength of any professional body lies in its ability to build and engage with its member communities. I spent years focused on growing influence, representing the voice of members, and ensuring they understood the value we brought, while always actively listening and adapting to the industry’s needs. I am now bringing that strategic, member-centric mindset to the Bathroom Association.

Behind the Bathroom: Our Collective Strength

Our manifesto is clear: Behind every bathroom are thousands of passionate people who make it possible—a complex supply chain of manufacturers, retailers, designers, suppliers, and installers.

The Bathroom Association is here to be the UK’s most influential community actively protecting, progressing, and promoting every aspect of the bathroom for the benefit of all. Together we drive market growth, raise standards, and deliver sustainability.

To achieve this, my focus will be on strengthening the strategic areas where we deliver value to our members:

  • Connect: We will enhance our community engagement and networking to ensure maximum collaboration and mutual support across the value chain.
  • Insights: We will accelerate our market insights initiatives to provide the data and analysis you need to identify opportunities and expand your businesses.
  • Influence: We will continue to represent your interests powerfully with government, regulators, and standards bodies, as exemplified by our hosting of the Windsor Declaration with international partners.

Driving Strategy, Purpose, and People

This is an industry that is both essential and complex. Our Strategic Priorities are entirely focused on enabling and driving success for our industry:

  • Reducing Environmental Impact: Supporting members in cutting water and carbon use and preparing for necessary regulatory change.
  • Raising Standards: Promoting compliance, improving product quality, and strengthening trust across the sector.
  • Understanding and Growing the Market: Giving you the data, analysis, and foresight to thrive.

Investing in the Next Generation

Beyond products and profits, I am deeply committed to the people who power this sector. My experience includes influencing the good and fair work agenda on many regional UK boards. This is an important factor as we think about the next generation of professionals working in the bathroom industry. Attracting, developing, and retaining great talent requires us to champion fairness, quality careers, and inclusion across our sector.

I believe in growth—not just financial, but professional and human. I believe that associations like ours have a powerful role to play in shaping not just industries but also in addressing sustainability and the future of work.

Thank you for the truly warm welcome. I look forward to connecting with you personally, hearing your perspectives, and working together to shape an influential, purposeful, and successful future for the Bathroom Association and all its members.

Daphne Doody-Green CEO, The Bathroom Association
