The Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) has won the ESG Initiative of the Year Award at the prestigious Trade Association Forum Awards 2023 for our work on sustainability.
As a high point in the calendar for the UK’s Trade Associations, the BMA is thrilled to have won this category.
As water supply and management accounts for 6% of the UK’s carbon emissions and >60% of domestic water consumption takes place in the home, we have prioritised sustainability across a range of activities.
We have delivered a public-facing campaign, ‘#GetLavvySavvy’ to educate consumers on the water that is lost from toilet leaks and their easy fixes. Collaboration with water companies has identified and removed the toilet valves most prone to leakage and driven members to develop new, entirely leak-proof valves.
On top of this, we hold six biannual Sustainability Forums, launched our sustainability awards, and worked with DEFRA on water labelling standards.
Now in its 20th year, the Trade Association Forum (TAF) Awards 2023 are supported by the Department of Business and Trade and recognise excellence, innovation and best practice amongst Trade Associations in the UK.
BMA Chief Executive, Tom Reynolds, said: “With a record number of entries to the awards this year, we’re incredibly proud to win this category.
“Our hard work has paid off – the results of this important initiative have since been recognised, and we continue collaborating with policymaking initiatives to lead towards change from the frontlines.
“To be recognised for our efforts is a great achievement for the team.”
Emily Wallace, Chief Executive of the Trade Association Forum and Chair of the judging panel, said:
“The judges loved the range of initiatives and industry leadership that the BMA has demonstrated, putting its commitment to sustainability at the heart of the association.”
The notable event, supported by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, recognises excellence, innovation and best practice amongst Trade Associations in the UK.
