The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a Product Safety Report for CGC Lighting Chrome LED Over Mirror Bathroom Light with Pull Cord.
The Chinese-made light presents a serious risk of fire as there was inadequate space provided to safely connect the luminaire to the mains wiring. This could result in the wiring being damaged during installation, potentially leading to the product overheating and igniting.
Additionally, the product’s instructions did not contain sufficient information to ensure that the luminaire could be correctly and safely installed, used and maintained. The insufficient information given in the instructions could result to the inadvertent misuse of the luminaire and potentially pose an injuries hazard. Some of the required markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, and the product has been rejected at the border.
