£63bn investment surge to create nearly 38,000 jobs in the UK

Record-breaking private investment commitments, announced at the International Investment Summit, will drive innovation and growth in infrastructure, renewables, and tech sectors.

Nearly 38,000 new jobs are set to be created across the UK following a record-breaking £63bn in investment commitments from the government’s International Investment Summit held in London today. This figure more than doubles the £29.5bn secured during last year’s Global Investment Summit, marking a significant boost to the UK’s growth in infrastructure, technology, and renewable energy.

Major deals announced today include over £6.3bn for UK data centres and a £150m R&D investment by Imperial College London. Key players like DP World and Associated British Ports (ABP) are also contributing over a billion pounds to infrastructure developments, enhancing the UK’s global trade capacity and tech innovation.

The UK government’s focus on economic stability, planning reform, and net-zero commitments has attracted substantial global interest, underlining Britain as a key destination for international investment. This wave of private funding will fuel growth in emerging sectors, including AI, as data centres expand to support the country’s digital future.

Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said:

“Global investors should be in no doubt that under this new government Britain is truly the best place to do business. The record-breaking investment total secured at today’s Summit marks a major vote of confidence in the UK and our stability dividend across industry and innovation.

“We’re determined to deliver economic growth in every part of the UK and these investments, together with our forthcoming Industrial Strategy, will give global businesses the certainty they need as we lead the charge for the innovation and jobs of the future.”

The full list of investment announcements can be found on the gov.uk website.

The government has also released a document that sets out the UK’s pitch to investors and a roadmap detailing how the industrial strategy will help secure investment and kickstart growth across the country.
