BMA LOOKS TO THE FUTURE AT AGM

Alan Dodds from Roca UK takes on the role of president for two years, assisted by Nick McGrellis, Croydex Limited as first Vice President and John Robinson, from Ideal Standard International in the position of second Vice President.

During his President’s report Alan said, “We have a strong financial base and a dedicated management team to serve us well in the future.  The BMA is the voice for the industry and has an important role to play in lobbying the government as the uncertain outcomes of Brexit unfold.”

BMA CEO Yvonne Orgill updated members on the current campaigns, outlining the positive progress that has been made on both  the development of a Voluntary Agreement for an  industry wide acceptable Water Label and improving awareness of the importance of sourcing compliant ‘fit for purpose’ CE marked bathroom products.

Sharon George from Keele University gave a presentation on their ongoing research into eradicating single use and difficult to recycle plastics.  She urged all manufacturers to work with their local universities so that more work can be done on identifying how to re-cycle products and packaging, providing more than one lifecycle for goods.

2020 Fusion announced that their bathroom catalogues will now include water label products, helping to raise awareness and improve knowledge throughout the industry.
Members were also given the first headline results from the recent consumer research undertaken by the BMA to understand peoples buying decisions and how they use their bathrooms.

“These are eagerly awaited results,” said Yvonne. “We are releasing the top headline details to begin with and the full report will be revealed at the Bathroom & Kitchen Business Conferencein October, open to the whole industry – book your seat.

“This is the first time any organisation from our industry has questioned the consumer in so much detail about their bathrooms and how they use bathroom products, so there is a wealth of results and statistics to follow.”

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Alan Dodds for Yvonne and her team, he said, “The BMA is always pro-active rather than reactive and the team is always punching above its weight to achieve outstanding results.”
